INSPIRING EMPLOYEES: ERIC HENDERSON
Eric Henderson made a goal and he is sticking to it! Eric has always been an athlete, but sometimes life gets in the way. I had a chance to chat with Eric, and here is what he had to say.
Jackie: Eric we spoke a little about your goals, could you please share your journey?
Eric: “I had to stop my physical activities that I did before my health condition. I unfortunately gained quite a bit of weight (YIKES!!!) After the healing process, I decided to cut all added=refined sugars out of my diet, no bread, no pasta, no unhealthy snacks. I started eating lean proteins like chicken, tons of veggies, spinach egg white omelets mixed greens salads and fish. In the first 2 weeks of cutting out added/refined sugars, I dropped 10 pounds. The swelling in my face and legs also disappeared. I then started walking. In the beginning, a half hour. I then re-joined the gym and started doing incline speed walking on the treadmill. Since it is not suggested that I lift weights, I purchased a TRX rope every day for 30 minutes I use the TRX to work out my entire body. I still speed walk on the treadmill every morning before work to jump-start my day and get my metabolism moving.
Jackie: What does your eating habits look like outside of the food you eat?
Eric: I went on a timed eating cycle as well. I no longer eat past 6 pm. All of my meals are consumed before working out and the cut off is 6PM.
Jackie: With your new diet and exercise routine, what results did you see??
Eric: I lost 28 pounds! My goal is to go back to my original weight before the injury which is another 20 pounds to go. Since changing my eating habits, and working with the TRX, I have more energy, less stress and I am able to surf again, hike and live a more sustainable, happy, healthy lifestyle.
Jackie: Do you take any supplements or vitamins to maintain or lose your weight?
Eric: I also take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in a glass of water in the morning. 2 fish oil capsules and a multi-vitamin. I try to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day as well.
I will tell you that I had horrible sugar withdrawals for about a week. After that, I gained more energy and, better focus.
Jackie: Where did you find your motivation to accomplish all that you have so far?
Eric: My motivation came from my daughter Emily and seeing your (Jackie’s) blog on IG with the TRX.
What I did I don’t consider a diet. I consider it change for life.”
Eric made a promise to train for good health. He is a role model for his family and co-workers. Eric continuously surprises himself in all that he has accomplished! Keep up the good work!
You do not need a gym, you do not need to lift heavy, and you do not need to look like someone else. To be healthy, you need to do what works for you.
